Pizza Sunday’s

A few months ago we went on a family vacation to Florida. While we were there our cousins graciously had us over for a fabulous pizza night. They have this AMAZING outdoor kitchen with a view of the intercostal, with a giant pizza oven in their backyard. We each made our own personal pizza’s in some of the most delicious combinations.

So inspired by this great experience and scrumptious pizza, I decided to have a pizza night of my own.  Unfortunately we don’t have a beautiful outdoor kitchen on the water at our house, so our standard oven, inside, had to do. After Googling how to make the perfect pizza in our regular oven, we noted a few tricks.

  1. Heat your pizza stone up WITH the oven. Put the stone in the oven, and put the temperature to 400 degrees.
  2. Buy Pizza dough from the pizzeria! The store bought stuff tends to be a little more difficult to work with.
  3. Use cornmeal on the bottom of your pizza in order to keep it from sticking (not flour) and work off of a wooden cutting board. Use the cutting board to slide the pizza right onto your pizza stone.

The toppings are my favorite part. Our first time, we didn’t even make a standard sauce and cheese pie. Instead we came up with delicious concoctions like goat cheese and artichoke, prosciutto and arugula, mushrooms and sautéed onions! To.Die.For

Now we make Pizza Sunday’s a fun get together with the red wine flowing! I can’t even tell you how many people have seen my “Pizza Sunday” Facebook posts and begged me to do it again and include them 🙂 I will…Someday!
